Admissions Requirements for U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents Applying to English Language Programs

This page is for U.S. citizens and permanent residents applying to English language programs at Midwestern Career College, including English as a Second Language (ESL). This page does not apply to MCC’s allied health, business, information technology, or other career-training programs.

Application fee note: The $100 application fee listed on this page applies to applicants for English language programs. Application fees for other MCC programs vary. Contact MCC admissions with any questions.

Please contact MCC’s International Admissions department if you have any questions about applying to an English language program.

1. Complete Midwestern Career College’s online Request for Information Form.

Once we receive your request for information, an admissions counselor will contact you to start the process. During your admissions interview, your counselor will discuss your academic goals and interests to help you select the program that best suits your needs. The counselor will review the admissions requirements and the necessary application documents to make sure you understand every step of the process.

2. Schedule an interview with an admissions representative.

3. Submit two application essays, if applicable.

4. Provide a translated and evaluated copy of your high school diploma or fill out a High School Attestation Form.

High school graduation is required for admission to all programs.

5. Provide a translated and evaluated copy of your college or university transcripts and/or diploma/certificate, if applicable.

All documents that are not from a U.S. institution must be evaluated. All evaluations must be completed by an approved NACES agency. Transcripts in a language other than English must also include an official English translation.

If you would like to transfer credits into one of MCC’s Associate Degree programs, your transcripts must be evaluated on a course-by-course basis. Otherwise, only a general evaluation to determine U.S. equivalency is required.

6. Provide a copy of a valid government-issued photo ID.

7. Pay the nonrefundable $100 application fee for English language program (ESL) applicants.

8. Provide proof of having earned a high school diploma or equivalent.

9. After the documents listed above are submitted and approved, applicants must take the online entrance placement exam.

10. If the applicant passes the entrance exam, their entire profile will be reviewed by the International Student Admissions Office. If accepted, the student will receive a letter of admission to Midwestern Career College and may begin the enrollment process with an International Admissions Adviser.
