Electroneurodiagnostics Training

Neurodiagnostics Program

Are you looking for a stimulating healthcare career with lots of job opportunities? Midwestern Career College’s Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Technologist program may be the best healthcare career you’ve never heard of. There’s strong demand for neurodiagnostic techs, and you can finish our program in about a year.

What neurodiagnostic technologists do?

They record electrical activity in the:

  • brain
  • spinal cord
  • peripheral nervous system

They use electroencephalographs (EEGs) and evoked potential (EP) exams to detect and diagnose:

  • Epilepsy and other seizures
  • Early dementia
  • Strokes
  • Tumors
  • Other neurological disorders

What career paths could be open to me?

Once you’re working in the field, you may be able to specialize in areas related to monitoring patients during brain and other surgeries, as well as diagnosing:

  • neurological disorders like epilepsy and stroke
  • sleep disorders
  • nerve conditions

What would my job outlook be?

There’s a shortage of well-educated neurodiagnostic technologists both in Chicago and across the nation. Demand grows as new labs open and existing services expand.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 33% job growth representing 33,800 new jobs for healthcare technologists over the decade from 2014-2024.

Particularly strong growth is projected in areas of long-term monitoring for epilepsy and intraoperative monitoring (surgery).

How long will I be in school?

Not long! In a little over a year, you can complete our program and be applying for a job! Our program has just ten months of academic and in-class lab work, then followed by a 550-hour post-graduation clinical experience.

Will I be able to get certified?

This is the only program of its kind in the Chicagoland area that is approved by ABRET, the neurodiagnostics credentialing body in the United States. Graduates of our program are eligible to sit for the Registered EEG Tech (R. EEG T.) exam upon completion of the 550-hour clinical experience and documentation of 100 additional EEGs. Hospitals are increasingly demanding certification as a requirement for continued employment. Our program provides that pathway.

What about funding?

The following funding sources may be available to you:

  • GI Bill® for military veterans
  • WIOA funding for the unemployed or underemployed
  • Tuition reimbursement may be available through your employer. Check with your HR department for more information.

Payment plans are also available.
