Medical Assistants Recognition Week (MARweek) is an annual celebration honoring the contributions and dedication of medical assistants to healthcare. It was established by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) in 1984. It typically falls on the third week of October each year and serves as an opportunity for healthcare organizations and professionals to acknowledge the vital role medical assistants play in patient care and support. Throughout the week, various events, activities, and initiatives are organized to recognize and appreciate the hard work and commitment of medical assistants in clinics, hospitals, and other healthcare settings.

Let’s join them in honoring medical assistants, who are instrumental in so many ways. Whether they are drawing blood from patients, maintaining electronic health records, building relationships with patients, or any other of the many things they are called on to do, medical assistants are a great boon to the field.

If you are a medical professional, odds are you know several medical assistants without which your job would be impossible. This week, take some time to thank them for their help.
