January 22, 2026. Midwestern Career College (MCC) has announced the launch of its new Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Program in Chicago, Illinois, expanding the college’s portfolio of healthcare education offerings and reinforcing its commitment to workforce-aligned, career-focused training.
The announcement follows formal approval granted during the January 9, 2026 meeting of the Illinois State Board of Nursing, which reviewed and approved MCC’s proposed Practical Nursing curriculum for its Chicago campus. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) accepted the Board’s recommendation, authorizing the college to proceed with offering the program.
In addition to curriculum approval, Midwestern Career College successfully completed an on-site Nursing Education Facility Review conducted by IDFPR representatives on January 9, 2026. Following the site visit, IDFPR recommended approval of MCC’s facilities for delivery of the LPN program, confirming that the campus infrastructure, instructional resources, and clinical training environment meet state requirements for practical nursing education.
The Midwestern Career College Licensed Practical Nursing program is designed to prepare graduates to pursue licensure as Licensed Practical Nurses in Illinois. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on clinical training, simulation-based learning, and the development of clinical judgment required to provide safe, effective patient care across a variety of healthcare settings.
Graduates of the program will be eligible to apply for licensure and to sit for the NCLEX-PN®, the national licensure examination for practical nurses, in accordance with Illinois state requirements.
The program reflects MCC’s long-standing focus on career-centered education by combining classroom instruction, skills laboratory practice, and supervised clinical experiences. Together, these components prepare students for entry-level nursing roles under the supervision of registered nurses.
“Launching our Licensed Practical Nursing program represents an important step forward for Midwestern Career College. This approval reflects the depth of academic planning, regulatory alignment, and institutional commitment behind the program. We are proud to expand access to high-quality nursing education and to support the growing demand for skilled, compassionate practical nurses across Illinois.”
— Jeremy Oberfeld, CEO, Midwestern Career College
An important feature of MCC’s Licensed Practical Nursing program is the presence of Simulation, Skills, and Medication Labs designed to reinforce safe, hands-on clinical learning to prepare students for real-world healthcare settings.

The Simulation Lab mirrors a realistic clinical environment and features high-fidelity MedVision manikins including “Leonardo”, and “Arthur” the pediatric manikin, and Gaumard mid-fidelity birthing manikin “Noelle”, that allow students to engage in lifelike patient-care scenarios ranging from routine nursing skills to more complex clinical situations.
The Skills and Medications Labs provide structured, supervised practice in nursing skills including medication preparation and administration, helping students build accuracy, confidence, and patient-safety awareness.
Students then round out their clinical hours at a clinical partner site with an MCC-affiliated partner.
“This program reflects our commitment to maintaining high academic and clinical standards within the nursing profession. We are proud of the depth of hands-on training built into the curriculum, particularly through our Simulation, Skills, and Medication Labs. These learning environments allow students to safely practice essential nursing skills, strengthen clinical judgment, and build confidence in settings that closely mirror real-world nursing practice.”
