General Summary: Performs all activities necessary for routine, portable, and pediatric EEG’s.  Additionally, performs sodium amytal injection studies, methohexital suppression tests, and epilepsy monitoring.  Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Independently operates digital electroencephalograph in coordination with advanced recordings.
  2. Performs portable recordings, which involves transporting instruments and working in all patient care areas.
  3. Coordinates Sodium amytal injection studies with Radiology, Neuro-psychology, and Neurology departments to facilitate an efficient and non-problematic procedure.
  4. Expertly performs methohexital suppression studies under the direction of the epileptologist.  Independently performs epilepsy monitoring including evaluations of seizure activity, conducting ictal and postictal exams, operating complex computerized equipment, and assuring patient safety.
  5. Summarizes patient history from chart or patient interview.
  6. Performs support tasks such as disinfecting electrodes, changing linen, and cleaning equipment.
  7. Administers selected nursing care including cleaning soiled patients and restraining patients if needed.
  8. Assists fellows and attending physicians as needed.
  9. Works with EEG students as directed by Manager of EEG Lab.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent patient care, customer service and interpersonal communication skills consistent with ICARE-ICONNECT guidelines.
  • Successful completion of didactic Neurodiagnostic Technologist coursework and eligibility to begin clinical rotations required.
  • Ability to work in all patient care areas and transport EEG instruments wherever needed in hospital campus
  • Ability to accurately evaluate clinical situation and modify procedures appropriately essential
  • Must demonstrate good, competent technical skills and sound judgment in professional practice while caring for the child, adolescent, and young adult patients specific to their clinical area


GENERAL SUMMARY: Provides care and oversight of patients in the prep areas of the Diagnostic Services Department under the auspices of the Radiologist. Actively interacts with patients and family members to assure they are properly prepared for their imaging exam and any issues or needs are addressed. Knowledgeable and proficient in the performance and processing of ECGs and provides support of the ECG Department on an as needed or scheduled basis. Upholds organizational and department standards for patient care and customer service and the Rush mission, vision and ICARE values.

  • Provides flexibility in work schedule. Must be able to assume assigned shift between 6am – 2am 7 days/week.
  • Provides basic care needs of the patient while in Diagnostic Services Department in support of the Nurse or Tech.
  • Basic competency in performance and processing of ECGs. Performs ECGs in Diagnostic Holding Area when needed. Available for assignment to ECG Department staffing rotations.
  • Basic competency in performance of Point of Care (POC) test and documentation of results in EPIC.
  • Has general knowledge of the equipment that may accompany patients to 3 Tower. Includes silencing of pumps with notification to either Holding Area or Unit nurse.
  • Has knowledge in the preparation of patient for contrast injections and preparation requirements of patients for diagnostic exams and procedures.
  • Performs IV starts as determined by MD protocol using the technique laid out by RUMC policy and under the direction of the Radiologist/Cardiologist supervising the diagnostic exam.
  • Obtain baseline vitals, document them in EPIC and notify the appropriate (tech/nurse)
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment and for the wellbeing and safety of the patients under their care as well as that of family members and/or visitors within the examination modality area.
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or inconveniences involving patients to the Tech/Nurse on duty as well as the Department and be prepared to file a full and detailed incident report as needed.
  • Monitor patients for contrast reaction, distress and hypoglycemia; notify Radiologist with any concerns. Initiates Code Blue as per hospital policy when necessary.
  • Escort patients, as needed, to and from various modalities and inpatient units in order to ensure patient


  • Prior formal clinical training is required. This may include CMA, CNA, PCT, EMT, corpsman, paramedic, and nursing or medical student experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good typing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and be able to maintain a high degree of professionalism while working in a high-volume, high-stress environment.
  • Should have experience with computerized office systems, medical records documentation, patient confidentiality regulations, and medical terminology.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some Anatomy / Physiology understanding preferred.
  • Competency in IV starts.
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) a plus.

Work Environment
This job operates in a health care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility while pulling or pushing carts. Staff Nurse
SUMMARY: The nurse is responsible for providing direct nursing care to the residents, and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Receive & transcribe telephone orders from physicians & record on the Physician’s Order Form. Chart nurse’s notes in an informative & descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the resident, as well as the resident’s response to the care. Fill out and complete accident/incident reports & submit to Director as required. Perform routine charting duties as required & in accordance with established charting & documentation policies & procedures.

Prepare & administer medications as ordered by the physician.  Develop & maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to ensure that nursing services and activities can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift. Receive/give the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours. Make rounds with physicians as necessary. · Administer professional services such as: catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, taking blood, giving massages and range of motion exercises, care for the dead/dying, etc., as required. Monitor your assigned personnel to ensure that they are following established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies.  Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.  Ensure that all nursing care is provided in privacy and that nursing service personnel knock before entering the resident’s room.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Ultrasound Technician (Sonographer)

The Women’s Group of Northwestern is seeking an experienced, clinically trained, highly motivated, and patient-friendly Ultrasound Technician (Sonographer) to Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by the physicians in the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  All candidates must be registered (ARDMS) ultrasound technicians with a minimum of one year prior experience. Previous experience in OB/Gyn ultrasound is a plus.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Performing all ultrasound techniques and examinations for obstetrics and gynecology patients.
  2. Using cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological information and images.
  3. Maintaining ultrasound results in tracking system.
  4. Analyzing sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:  Under the direction of a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, the Surgery OR Technician contributes to the company by assisting with the provision of safe and effective care in accordance with a defined scope of practice. Duties may include: direct patient care and observation; scrubbing and assisting surgeon at the operative field; surgical room turnover between cases, collection and recording of pertinent clinical data in the medical record; and consistent collaboration with the surgeon in clinical decision making.  Surgical care meets the standards of the regulatory guidelines, policies and procedures of the Center, and is appropriate to the Center’s patient population.


  • Maintains current knowledge of surgical procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to identify and select instruments and equipment necessary for surgical procedures and appropriately interpret information on preference cards.
  • Knowledge of current practice related to hand hygiene, and sterile technique.
  • Knowledge of current practice of decontamination, high level disinfectant, aseptic, and sterilization procedures.

Position Summary: The certified technician decontaminates instruments, assembles trays and/or equipment, and sterilizes instrument trays for prescribed patient procedures. Assembles case carts for specific surgical procedures. In response to the time-critical needs of the surgeon, nurses and OR team members, the SRP CP Technician processes a variety of highly specialized surgical instrument trays and powered surgical tools and implant devices, often in high pressure situations engendered by the life-threatening nature of unexpected trauma or technologically advanced surgical procedures.
