Midwestern Career College’s Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Technologist hybrid program immerses students in the fascinating study of electrical brain activity and gives them the practical skills needed to set up, record and interpret EEG tests in the healthcare setting. After three semesters, including a full semester of clinical rotation, our graduates are well-prepared to embark on a fulfilling career as EEG Techs.
Individuals interested in becoming an EEG tech often have a strong personal interest in the fields of neuroscience, medical technology, and patient care. They might also have a fascination with understanding brain function and the electrical activity within it. Curiosity about the diagnostic process, the impact of neurological disorders, or the role of technology in healthcare are often additional interests. Some of our students come from backgrounds of having personal or family connections to epilepsy and this drives their desire to make a meaningful difference in patient’s lives and actively contribute to finding a cure.
Electroneurodiagnostic technologists record electrical activity of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. They also prepare patients for procedures and obtain medical histories. Technologists work with specially trained physicians who interpret data and provide clinical impressions. They may be specialized in one or more neurodiagnostic procedures, which provides opportunities to work in many areas such as neurology and surgery.

This program curriculum incorporates the guidelines of the American Board of Registry of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET).
This program includes 550 hours of clinical externship at an MCC-affiliated site.
The externship provides a unique opportunity for real-life field and patient-care experience, invaluable in the transition from an academic to work environment.
MCC’s program is one of the few in the United States currently approved by the American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET) as a pathway to R. EEG T. certification.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), neurodiagnostic technology jobs are expected to grow at an above average rate through 2032. Over 15,400 job openings are expected to be created from 2022 to 2032.
