Winter 2021 – Remote Learning and On-Campus Labs
Dear Students,
As the COVID-19 infection rates continue to increase in IL and across the United States, we, like the rest of our community, are concerned by this upward trend. Therefore, we have decided that the safest plan for the Winter 2021 is to continue most of our classes remotely.
We will continue to limit on-campus classes to those requiring face-to-face interaction, specifically practical labs in the allied-health programs.
All lecture-based classes, language training classes, and laboratory classes that can be done via virtual classroom and simulation software will continue to be offered remotely. This plan is subject to change and adjustment as the pandemic and regulatory environment continues to evolve.
Please log in into your Student Portal to view your Winter 2021 Schedule or check your D2L Brightspace Dashboard.
ESL students – please check your MCC email to Winter 2021 schedule or check your D2L Brightspace Dashboard.
Although campus operations for MCC administrative and academic staff will remain mostly remote, we are continuing to gradually re-open based on the state’s and the city’s health and safety guidance. Individual in-person meetings with various departments may be held per individual requests and with required safety measures. Please check your student email and MCC website regularly and continue to send us your feedback and questions to campussafety@mccollege.edu. Do not hesitate to call or email with any questions. MCC administrative staff is here to help!
Thank you,
MCC Administration

Dear Students,
Through the course of this pandemic, ever since we made a difficult but necessary decision to shift to remote instruction back in March of this year, our top priority has always been the health and safety of MCC community while ensuring that you continue making progress towards your academic goals.
As the COVID-19 infection rates continue to increase in IL and across the United States, we, like the rest of our community, are concerned by this upward trend Therefore, we have decided that the safest plan for the upcoming Fall 2020 term is to continue most of our classes remotely.
This plan is subject to change and adjustment as the pandemic and regulatory environment continues to evolve.
Over the course of this and next week, we will provide details on the specifics of the Fall schedule for each of our programs. As programs schedules are finalized, they will be posted on your MCC Student Portal and in D2L Brightspace.
Dear Students,
As you probably know, the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago have just announced that they will be moving into Phase 3 of the Illinois Reopening Plan in June. However, Phase 3 of the reopening plan, as released, does not yet allow for return to on-campus classroom instruction. You can find the Restore Illinois Plan and Be Safe Chicago Guidelines for Phase 3 here.
Based on the released guidelines, and in order to continue prioritizing the safety and health of our students, faculty, and staff, MCC has determined that instruction for all classes in Spring and Summer Terms will continue remotely until further notice.
We are exploring the possibility of limited on-campus practical sessions to supplement remote learning while observing social distancing and other public health guidelines. Students enrolled in Allied Health Programs should expect more updates in the coming weeks with additional information specific to their program of study.

Midwestern Career College (MCC) is closely monitoring the current COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation and adhering to the guidelines from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Illinois Department of Public Health, Chicago Department of Public Health, Illinois Board of Higher Education, and the U.S. Department of Education. While at this moment MCC does not have any COVID-19 cases identified on any of our campuses and there is no guidance to close academic operations for higher education institutions, MCC is taking precautionary steps to assess the situation. Therefore, effective immediately, the following precautionary short-term measures will take effect:
We expect future updates by the end of the day on Monday. Since the situation is very dynamic, we encourage all students to check the website regularly for updates. For any additional questions, please contact campussafety@mccollege.edu.
March 12, 2020
At this time, no COVID-19 cases have been identified on any of our campuses.
Although there is no unique risk currently identified for the MCC community, we are a part of Chicago, Chicagoland, United States, and global communities that are affected by the outbreak. Current information suggests that person-to-person spread will continue to occur and more cases will be identified in the United States, in Chicago, and Chicagoland area.
We are closely monitoring the situation and adhering to the guidelines from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Illinois Department of Public Health, Chicago Department of Public Health, and Illinois Board of Higher Education.
MCC’s goal is to reduce the impact of COVID-19 outbreak on our students’ education.
We have an emergency preparedness plan in place that would go into effect should the college decide or is required to limit or cancel on-campus instruction.
As of today, no on-campus classes have been cancelled or switched to online mode of delivery.
We understand you are worried and will continue to post updates as the situation develops. Meanwhile, it is important that you continue to get information from the trusted sources:

CORONAVIRUS/COVID-19 CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENT
Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
We would like to share with you updated information about our efforts to safeguard our campuses against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
While the immediate health risk to Illinoisans remains low, the latest available information suggests that person-to-person spread will continue to occur, and additional cases are likely to be identified in the United States, including Illinois, Chicago, and Chicagoland area.
The Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) continues to work closely with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other federal, state and local partners to monitor and respond to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak.
Meanwhile, there are steps that we, as individuals and a community, can take to help minimize the risk of COVID-19 spread:
Following the updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) last week, any travelers returning to the U.S. or coming for the first time from any country under a CDC Warning Level 3 (Avoid Nonessential Travel) are expected to self-isolate for 14 days, regardless of whether that direction is specifically given to them at the U.S. point of entry. Those Level 3 countries are China, Italy, Iran, and South Korea, but there is a strong possibility that this list of countries will grow. Individuals who have transited these nations do not need to self-isolate if they did not leave the airport. If they left the airport or remained in the airport for more than 24 hours, self-isolation is required.
We ask that all members of the MCC community consider carefully any upcoming travel plans in the U.S. or abroad, including personal, non-college travel.
As a reminder, self-isolation is also required for:
You can read the CDC guidelines on what it means to self-isolate here.
MCC expects that all students, faculty, and staff who meet the CDC criteria—or who have been exposed to the Coronavirus—will self-isolate for 14 days prior to coming to campus. All visitors to campus (non-employee, non-student) for short- or long-term periods who meet the CDC criteria are expected to follow the same 14-day self-isolation requirement. MCC does not condone discrimination against members of our community based on their country of origin or where they have traveled.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends the following everyday preventive actions to help stop the spread of respiratory viruses, including:
MCC continues to be committed to the health, safety and security of our community and we will continue to post updates as the situation develops. Meanwhile, it is important that you continue to get information from the trusted sources:
Primary Resource: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Chicago Resource: Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH)
