• Assures efficient patient flow: Responds to needs to expedite visits and maintain flow of patients and prioritize tasks accordingly.
• Escorts patient to exam room and prepares patient for examination.
• Obtains and records accurate vital signs as well as obtaining/verifying and documenting in the EHR relevant information prior to patient encounter, including but not limited to PMP, lab reports, imaging reports, hospital discharge reports, specialists reports etc.
• Documents reason for visit and updates/confirms, allergies, smoking history and pharmacy information. Monitoring and documenting patient symptoms for physicians’ review during clinical exams
• Perform routine office tests and procedures, such as urinalysis, EKG, phlebotomy, spirometry, and injections.
• Collect specimens for testing and sending them in for laboratory analysis
• Anticipates/sets up equipment or supplies needed for visit.
• Cleans and prepares exam room for next patient and clinical procedures.
• Prepares and stocks all exam rooms in treatment area by following established protocols for disinfecting and sterilizing equipment and instruments.
• Maintains vaccine/medication inventory and assures medication and samples have not expired
• Monitors and maintains equipment and instruments according to clinic guidelines.
• Assists in ordering supplies and correctly disposes of all expired items.
• Functions as an integral part of the patient care team and promotes patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, friendly manner
• Accepts and performs delegated responsibilities in a positive manner.
• Communicates appropriately and effectively with patients and patient care team (in the office and on the phone)
• Act as a liaison between patients and providers/specialists
• Responsible for prescription refills and responding as appropriate under the direction of supervising physicians by working with designated pharmacies
• Schedules referrals/ authorizations and outpatient diagnostic testing for patients. Assures proper filing of test results, hospital information and other pertinent information in patient chart.
• Follows regulations regarding narcotic storage and maintains medical inventory log. Assures medications have not expired.
• Under the guidance of the Practice Manager, assists in maintaining all CLIA, OSHA, HFAP and Compliance regulations. Functions with an awareness of safety issues.
• Communicating results and answering patient questions under the direction of the Physician.
• Fill in for medical secretaries at the front desk when needed.
• Adheres to office opening and closing procedures.
