Medical Assistant

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must be able to work well with all the providers in the suite and assist in completing paper work as needed to facilitate patient flow
- To communicate the needs of the suite between the providers and triage
- Maintain general appearance and cleanliness of center suites
- Greet walk in patients, determine needs and respond appropriately
- Prepare patients for examination – take and record vitals
- Ensure proper collection of lab specimens and lab orders and diagnostic tests are completed
- Ensure laboratory and diagnostic data is entered into EMR
- To communicate diagnostic test results to patient after being reviewed by provider
- Prepare a Revenue Cycle Clinic Close Report at the end of each shift, of data entered into the EMR
- Order and inventory all suite medical and clerical supplies
- Ensure proper disposal of contaminated and disposable items
- Delegate assignments needed to ensure the suite operates efficiently
- Ensure suite equipment is working properly and to report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate person
- Train and provide suite orientation to new employees so that continuity and quality of patient care is provided
- Facilitate open communication in the suite
- To gain the trust of the medical and clerical staff so that the staff can feel comfortable in approaching the Lead MA for urgent assistance in the suite
- MA must be able to uphold the standards and mission of FCHC with a good attitude and compassion towards patients and staff members
- Assist Providers in the completion of patient documents and records i.e. FMLA, Disability, etc
- Review EMR for completeness
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Training and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Registered/Certified applicants preferred or three (3) years experience in health center or hospital.
- Demonstrate competence in performing specific Medical Assistant skills such as: vital signs and administering injections
- Experience working with EMR
- Proven ability to provide excellent customer service
- Ability to interpret administrative policies and procedures and apply to work situations
- Proven ability to team and exude a positive outlook
- Ability to diffuse and resolve conflict
- Advanced oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Must possess good listening skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/responsibilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (outlook, word, excel)
