Academic Manager

Midwestern Career College has an opening for an Academic Manager. 

The Academic Manager assists the Program Directors in administering academic programs in a manner that serves the best interest of students, maintains the highest standards of academic integrity in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the college. This position reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. 

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, orienting, and training faculty and assigned staff, which includes ensuring that assigned faculty members hold the appropriate teaching credentials.
  • Assist in quarterly faculty evaluations and coaching sessions.
  • Maintain student academic records and files to ensure they represent an accurate, complete and current account of students’ academic progress.
  • Monitor transcript evaluation requests to ensure that official transcript evaluations are received and reviewed with students in a timely manner.
  • Manage quarterly faculty in-services.

Program Directors

  • Work in collaboration with the Program Directors to contact students if they stop attending the program.
  • Assist Program Directors in monitoring student performance and hiring and evaluating instructors.
  • Monitor the development of mid-terms, final assessments and the processing of mid-term progress alert forms.
  • Monitor the completion of grade change and incomplete grade forms.
  • Monitor student advising sessions for F grades.

Student Services

  • Assist in the monitoring of students who intend to withdraw from courses and improve processes to increase retention.
  • Assist in developing quarterly academic awards and honors.
  • Participate in student orientations.
  • Monitor communication with at-risk students to ensure their academic success.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred. Must have at least five years of academic administrative experience.

Adjunct Instructor – AAS in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

MCC has a position open for an Adjunct Instructor – AAS in Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technology

Please note this is not a remote position. This is a hybrid course and some on campus presence is required.

About the Adjunct position: You’ll be teaching assigned courses that will prepare students for appropriate certifications.

Illinois Locations: Chicago, Naperville, or Evergreen Park

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Deliver the curriculum based on health-related vocational content materials to meet the needs of adult learners and assist them to successfully obtain appropriate certification.
  • Will report to Program Director and works closely with Director of Academic Operations to improve quality of instruction, curriculum and other academic requirements.
  • Evaluate and revise the curriculum to meet State and Federal requirements and address the needs of the students.
  • Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained.
  • Provide a stimulating environment that encourages students’ participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Program Director.

Education and/or Experience:

  • An associate degree in allied health sciences or its equivalent is required.
  • A current and valid license as a Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist from the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) is required.
  • Two additional national certifications (Registered Technologist Magnetic Resonance Imaging (RT MR) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer from the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety) are preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical or teaching experience in Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technology is required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • The position requires a personal computer.
  • Expert proficiency in MS Office Suite, and educational computer programs/software (tracking student progress and grades).
  • Excellent spelling and grammar skills, and the ability to communicate in a courteous, tactful, and concise manner.
  • Experience using multiple approaches to teaching and learning, such as incorporating technology, service learning, contextualized instruction, multiple levels, universal design for learning, or other research-based and innovative approaches that support increased student success.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills.
  • Computer based skills (i.e., software, analytical, and report writing skills).
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet frequently occurring deadlines.
  • Ability to develop a professional rapport with diverse school/campus constituents.
  • Ability to develop and complete projects without continued direct supervision.
  • Ability to learn from student’s participation, demonstrates fair and consistent behavior in all matters, and shows compassion without being ineffectual.

Adjunct Instructor (part-time) – Business Program

Midwestern Career College has an immediate opening for an Adjunct Instructor (part-time) in our Business Program. This role reports into the Program Director and is a hybrid course (teaching on site as well as online).

About the Role: As the Adjunct Instructor you will teach accounting, finance, and general business courses in the classroom and online. The Adjunct Instructor must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.

Job Duties:

In addition to teaching, other duties will include:

  • Working with the Program Director in improving quality of instruction, curriculum, and other academic requirements.
  • Evaluating and documenting students’ progress through testing and observation.
  • Provide a stimulating environment that encourages students’ participation, interpersonal skills development.
  • Use instruction time to gain insights into students’ current circumstances and goals.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Program Director.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or its equivalent is required
  • Master’s degree is a plus
  • Two years in the field of accounting required
  • Experience using multiple approaches to teaching and learning, such as incorporating technology, service learning, contextualized instruction, multiple levels, universal design for learning, or other research-based and innovative approaches is required.

  • This position requires a personal computer.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, in addition to QuickBooks and Net Suite.

NICVS Lab Assistant – Part-Time

MCC has an immediate opening for a part-time NICVS Lab Assistant.

About the NICVS Lab Assistant position: You’ll assist NICVS faculty in instructing, supervising, and evaluating students in the lab setting.

Location: Downtown Chicago

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Assists the Instructor in supervising sonography labs on assigned days.
  • Assists students as necessary.
  • Communicates with MCC faculty to discuss student issues as necessary.
  • Displays a high level of commitment and operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.
  • Works within the organization in a resourceful manner to accomplish work goals; shows flexibility in response to change in processes and adapts to and accommodates new methods and procedures.
  • Accepts direction and feedback from MCC faculty and follows through appropriately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate of a NICVS Program. Excellent interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
