Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White Speaks to MCC Volunteers at NKFI World Kidney Day

March 28, 2017. On March 7, 2017, many of our dialysis technologist and other students volunteered for World Kidney Day, a worldwide kidney health awareness event organized by the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois.

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, who has played an important role promoting organ transplantation in Illinois, attended and spoke at the event. Above you’ll find a video of what he had to say to our volunteers.

Transcript of Jesse White’s comments at World Kidney Day:

“So I want to applaud, commend and thank Ms. Black and this wonderful organization for its giving and caring spirit and for having a mobile unit like this that will travel all over the state of Illinois, giving individuals an opportunity to find out how well their kidneys are. If by chance they have a problem, they know where to go to help them to improve their quality of life. And then of course if all happens to fail, then transplantation will be the order of the day, and with the 6.1 million people signed up to become organ donors, there’s a possibility that you will get a second chance at life will help to improve your quality of life. Again, I want to thank you for your commitment to this program and for your giving and caring spirit on behalf of the people of the state of Illinois.”
