Job Summary: We are searching for an energetic Clinical Medical Assistant to add to our team at Tone where we are devoted to providing dermatology patient care and common dermatology procedures. The MA will exemplify the values of our brand: accessible, inclusive, knowledgeable, and warm. The MA will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner.

Principal Duties: The Clinical Medical Assistant is an essential part of our team in providing dermatology patient care and common dermatology procedures.

This role includes:

· Scheduling patient appointments

· Checking-in and interviewing patients, collecting chief complaint, vital signs and history

· Charting and scribing the patient encounter in the patient’s electronic medical record

· Completing administrative tasks including prior authorizations, update and file medical records.

· Setting up tools and the patient for procedures & assisting with common dermatology procedures/surgeries

· Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms

· Prepare and clean medical instruments and exam rooms for patient encounters and/or procedures.

· Administrative duties such as fielding phone calls, informing patients of their lab or pathology results

· Communicating the dermatologists’ plan to patients.

· Performing inventory of supplies and retail items

Minimum Qualifications:

In addition to at least ONE year of work history as a dermatology medical assistant, the candidate must have:

(i) a high school diploma or equivalent degree.

(ii) graduated from an accredited program as a Certified Medical Assistant.

(iii) ability to interact and communicate well as a team and with others, in person or by telephone, including occasional difficult or frustrated customers or patients,

(iv) ability to report to work with consistent attendance, prepared to work well in a fast-paced environment of a dermatology clinic.

(v) have attention to detail in their actions with the goal to provide the best patient care possible

(vi) possess and maintain a current CPR certification

(vii) Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work

(viii) Social perceptiveness and service oriented

(ix) Excellent written and verbal communication skills

(x) Strong organizing and planning skills

Preferred Qualifications: Currently certified/Registered Medical Assistant. Additionally:

· 1-2 years of experience in a dermatology office setting.

· Knowledge of common dermatology procedures and terminology

· Experience with electronic medical programs.

· A great team member

· A great teacher – being able to teach patients as well as other team members.

Physical Demands: The following is required to adequately fulfill the role of the certified medical assistant:

· Significant amount of walking

· Assisting patients to and from the waiting room to the exam rooms, also be able to help patients climb up to and down from the exam table/chair

· Being able to reach in shelves that are high overhead or down close to the floor to gather supplies and tools for the patient’s visit and/or procedure.

· Occasional heavy lifting may be required (up to 50 lbs.).

· Data entry (typing) into a computer or tablet is required for documenting the patient visit or encounter.

Although this is never the goal, healthcare can bring stressful situations with frustrated or difficult encounters with customers or patients. Clinical Medical Assistants may be exposed to this occasionally, but our practice strives to create a safe and enjoyable workplace. Occasional exposure to certain hazardous chemicals and biological specimens is also expected, however the practice maintains strict protocols, employee training, and limits exposure to these agents in every way possible.
