Midwest Institute for Minimally Invasive Therapies is looking for a Medical Assistant to primarily assist the physician, PA, and performs duties such as managing patient records, scheduling appointments, answering phones, and maintains the front desk area.


Administrative Duties (may include, but not limited to):

  • Using computer applications
  • Greeting patients
  • Check patients in and out
  • Verify patient’s insurance eligibility
  • Collect co-pay / balance from patient
  • Updating patient medical records
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Arranging for laboratory services
  • Request authorizations / referrals
  • Confirm appointments
  • Answer telephone calls, take hospital consults and taking messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls

Clinical Duties (may include, but not limited to):

  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart
  • Record history and physical, review of system, medications and allergies in EMR
  • Update patients medical record
  • Schedule appointments
  • Request authorizations / referrals
  • Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms and procedure
  • Explaining treatment procedures to patients and obtain consent
  • Preparing patients for procedure
  • Apply and change dressings
  • Monitoring patient flow
  • Authorizing prescription refills as directed
  • Perform exams under supervision of physician or physician assistant
  • Report to clinical coordinator or practice administrator
  • Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician or physician assistant
  • Instructing patients about medication and special diets
  • Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required
  • Take hospital consults and telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
  • All other duties as assigned by clinical coordinator or practice administrator


  • Healthcare field and medical specialty
  • Medical terminology
  • Basic Life Support Certificate
  • Grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Knowledge of EHRs
  • Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
  • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
  • High school diploma; some college preferred
  • Medical assistant certification (if applicable)

Hearing must be adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone. Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone. Requires eye sight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and read information from printed sources and computer screens.  Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. Must be able to multi-task and prioritize their daily responsibilities.

Technical skill of performing
