Midwestern Career College’s Advanced Pharmacy Technician Training program provides technical and practical pharmaceutical knowledge to students, which may lead to employment as an entry-level pharmacy technician under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

The program teaches students how to:

  • read, interpret and fill prescriptions
  • enter prescriptions in computer systems
  • order medications
  • package medications
  • maintain inventories
  • understand generic and brand-name prescriptions
  • bulk compounding and manufacturing
  • prepare IV mixtures
  • assist in outpatient dispensing, and
  • calculate pharmaceutical conversions to assist the pharmacist.

Main Features

  • Classroom-based hands-on training in the school lab, which includes pharmacy software training and simulated pharmacy tasks
  • 220-clock-hours of externship at our affiliated pharmacies
  • Eligible for national certification to become Certified Pharmacy Technician
