Lecture on Diversity & Inclusion at MCC

Vickie R. Sides, Director of Education and Outreach for Equal Opportunity Programs and Assistant Dean of Students at the University of Chicago, will be featured speaker at MCC event.

We all have a part to play in building an inclusive culture and promoting student engagement in the college classroom. Key to this is understanding the role implicit bias, microaggression, and ally-ship play in whether and to what extent students feel a sense of belonging in our academic spaces.

The Academics team has partnered with a special guest speaker, Vickie R. Sides, who will provide our faculty a lecture on Inclusion and Diversity during the Faculty In-Service Meeting on September 2, 2022. Vickie will be presenting an interactive professional development workshop designed to assist higher ed faculty and staff in cultivating that culture in their classrooms and throughout the institution.

The workshop will also include best practices and skill-building for bystander intervention strategies, listening skills and how to have difficult conversations.

A special thank to the Academics team for this partnership!

This event is internal to MCC staff and faculty.
